Attention GEAR UP students who are interested in pursuing a career in Engineering/Math:

Mathematics Academy may be the best way for you to prepare for your collegiate career.  This six week camp is quite labor intensive, but don't let that hinder your desire to participate.  Every weekday students will be engaged in six hours of math lecture, workshops, and study sessions being taught by UW math instructors and student tutors.  More than 96% of the 2009 participants showed improvement in their math skills with a 108.6% improvement between their pre-test and final test scores. 

This Academy extends beyond the classroom!  You will also be visiting the Boeing manufacturing facility in Everett, WA and the Amazon.com headquarters in Seattle.  You also get to tour UW Research Labs and watch current students work on their research projects.  You will also engage in team-building activities, experience the beauty of nature during excursions to Snoqualmie Falls and the SoundView Camp.  There will also be a Retreat Ropes Course.  You also will visit local Seattle attractions.  You will be staying in UW dorms and will have access to recreational facilities.
